Step 5: Next, proceed to MetaMask. Before proceeding, please copy this code down and save it for later. Navigate to the MetaMask website and click "Install MetaMask for Chrome"
Note: If you already have a different MetaMask wallet, you can proceed to Step 6
Click "Add to Chrome". This MetaMask extension will be added.
Click "Create a Wallet". This will not be your Silks wallet, we are simply setting up MetaMask.
Create your password. This will be used to sign in to your MetaMask wallet.
Your seed phrase, or Secret Recovery Phrase as referred to by MetaMask, is the lifeline and security behind your wallet and the technology that keeps your assets safe on the blockchain. You can think of these words as your master key to all your digital assets.
If you have lost or forgotten the password you just created in the previous step, you can use this set of 12 words to restore your wallet on any device. However, if anyone were to gain access to these 12 words, they could do the same. Anyone with this seed phrase can restore your wallet on their digital device and gain access to all your assets, including your cryptocurrency and NFTs.
- Use your pen and paper to carefully write down each word in the order its displayed from left to right. Take careful note of the spelling, capitalization, and order of the words.
- In the next step, you'll be prompted to re-enter the words in the order you've written them down to confirm.
Click "Next". You'll now be prompted to re-enter the 12 words as they appeared in the previous step. Once completed, click continue. Now You will now see "Account 1" within your MetaMask extension as shown below: (this example shows Account 3; yours will say Account 1, unless you already have a MetaMask wallet)
Step 6: Click on the "Account 1" button. At the bottom, the middle tab shows "Import Wallet". Click this to proceed.
Paste the private key that you copied in Step 3. Click "Import". You will now see your reflected Silks Wallet balance under your new account. Heading to your OpenSea will display all of your Silks Wallet assets.
