This new update vastly simplifies the process of buying Ethereum directly from your wallet within the Silks Portal. If you have yet to set up your Silks Account yet, please see our new onboarding guide.
Need to know:
- The purchasing process remains the same for both traditional MetaMask wallets and our new Silks Wallet
- You can use this functionality to purchase Ethereum in order to deliver your horses
Step 1: Sign into the Silks Portal. Make sure your account is connected and your profile icon is highlighted in green as indicated in the above screenshot. If the border around this icon is grey, click on it and proceed to "Connect Account Wallet". You will quickly go through the flow of connecting either your Silks or MetaMask wallet.
Step 2: Click on your Profile icon to reveal the Account Menu
This menu represents your account wallet. The displayed address will match your newly created Silks Wallet (or existing MetaMask address). Click the yellow "Buy" button.
Step 3: Enter the amount you wish to purchase
After you're done entering in the amount of Ethereum to purchase, click the blue "Continue" button.
Step 4: Enter your email address and click "Continue"
You will be sent a one-time verification code to your email. Enter this code in the displayed field on the next screen to proceed. Note: You may also be asked to enter your phone number.
The next screen reviews the identity verification information that's required in order to proceed with your purchase. Click the blue "Continue" button
Step 5: Fill in your information. You can select between using your Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.
Once complete, click "Continue"
You may be asked to verify your identity with additional information. MagicLink will open a popup asking you to proceed from a mobile device.
Scan the QR code and proceed with the identity verification from a mobile device. You will be able to select from the following identification types:
Step 6: Verify wallet address; This will auto-populate. Make sure this address matches the wallet address you are purchasing from.
- MetaMask and existing Silks users should confirm this address matches their wallet that contains their Silks assets
When you've confirmed the address matches, click "Use this wallet".
- MetaMask Users: If the wallet selected does not match your wallet of choice, please click the back button and start the process again with the correct wallet open and connected to the Silks Portal.
Step 7: Enter your payment information.
Check to verify your information is correct and click "Review Order."
Step 8: Review your purchase and Pay
Please ensure all of the listed information is correct, including email, credit card, and wallet address. When you are ready to proceed, click the blue "Pay" button.
Note: After clicking the pay button, you may receive a notification popup that says "Gas fees have changed. Please confirm your new price." This fluctuation will be extremely minimal and will have occurred whilst you were going through this process. If you have questions about gas fees, please click here.
Click "Accept & Pay" if you see this popup.
Step 9: Wait for Confirmation
Do not refresh or leave this page. The transaction can take up to 3 minutes to fully process.
Once complete, you will see your Ethereum updated in your wallet balance within the Silks Portal. Any remaining balance will remain in your wallet and be included with any rewards that are received.
