Thursday’s 7th from Keeneland is the Game of Silks Race of the Week this week! It’s an allowance race with a purse of $110,000 for 2 year old’s going 8 ½ furlongs on the grass with a 12-horse field and a quartet of also-eligible’s with a post time of 4:12 eastern. Check out our Spaces discussing this race starting at noon Thursday on X and reminder that a replay of that show will be available if you can’t make it live.
Tough Little Nut is clearly the one to beat in here off of his first two career starts, both of which were excellent showings. Was against a strong inside bias in his last at Kentucky Downs and there is ample speed to set this race up well for him. Block is an sharp conditioner but the downside to his chances is jockey Joel Rosario has not been riding well. Tough Little Nut is owned in Silks by CreativeForce.
Blue Eyed George is out of many in this race that comes out of a poor showing last out. Did break his maiden impressively before not being much of a factor in a stakes at Kentucky Downs. Switches to Johnny V here for the clever Mike McCarthy. Upset possibility exists here. Blue Eyed George is available in the Auction House for this race.
Baytown Parfait broke his maiden in start three but his turf debut in a maiden $50000 claimer back at Ellis Park in August. Connections tried a stakes Kentucky Downs but he wasn’t up to the task and tired after chasing the early pace. Might need softer company to have a square chance. He is available in Game of Silks via a Delivery Pass.
Good Bali lost all chance at the start of the Juvenile Stakes at Kentucky Downs last time and put in a decent rally to pass half the field. His prior grass races were pretty good and if he leaves the gate clean and Martin Garcia can find good position behind the early leaders, he rates a pretty good shot in this spot at a nice price. He is owned in Silks by bgreinke stables.
Code Omaha wired a MSW turf sprint at Horseshoe Indianapolis in his only start. Stretches out to two turns here, takes blinkers off and gets Flavian Prat to ride. The issue is there is a lot of horses with early speed in here and even if Prat gets him to rate some, he may still be too close to a fast pace to hold off the closers. Code Omaha is owned in Silks by Joxiah.
Steeler Mischief broke his maiden on the dirt at Hawthorne first time out before dueling on the lead and tiring in an allowance race at Churchill. Another that might try rating tactics in a race packed with speed. Whatcombe stables owns this horse in Silks.
Copper Missile was overbet at 4-5 in that same allowance at Churchill, a tardy start giving him too much to do when 3rd in that race. A better beginning and decent trip behind a rapid pace should benefit him here and he is an obvious contender though the 8-1 morning line seems to be close to double what he likely will be. Southwest stables owns this Colt in Silks.
Legal Titan also existed that same Churchill allowance and ran the best of those that were in there outside the winner. Should be forwardly placed and the racing experience of having five previous races may prove beneficial in this spot. Legal Titan is owned by One Eyed Dog Stables in Silks.
Mission Ready is a deep closer in a race that seems to be headed for a quick early pace scenario. Unusually that is a benefit for these types but his jockey Ashton only has 8 winners this year so the trick is to not get too far back and move at the right time which ain’t always easily accomplished. Owned in Game of Silks by karmstrong stables.
Fortune Seller has run four times and in all of those races he was on the lead or battling for it, a recipe that seems to spell trouble in this speed laden event. He is dropping from a graded stakes here but tough to see him working out a trip with so much other speed in here. He is owned in Silks by Sagebrush Stables.
Save the King broke slow last out after going wire to wire when breaking his maiden in the previous start. If James Graham can get his into a decent stalking position without losing too much ground, he is a potential upsetter at a long price. He is available via the Delivery process in Silks.
Please Advise stretches out for trainer George Weaver who has had a banner year with his two year olds this season. The Palace Malice colt has been chasing stakes horses his last three starts and if Luis Saez works out a trip from the outside post, he may wind up in the winners circle. This Colt is available for purchase via the Silks Auction House.
Family Factor is stretching out and trying grass for the first time if he draws in but is another that seems to want to race close to the lead. He is owned in Silks by Gibbs Racing.
Billy the Greek ran relatively well in two dirt starts at Saratoga before easing in his turf debut in his last which seems too bad to be true. Gafflione sticks and if you draw a line through the non-effort he is interesting here. He is owned in Silks by jeffsp1965 stables.
Elevated Game ran well when breaking his maiden at Canterbury and ran terrible when trying stakes company at Laurel. Unlikely to draw in and a mystery on how he will perform if he does. He is owned in Silks by kgoldberg stables.
Rezarolex has been racing at Belterra which is a short distance in miles from Keeneland but a long distance in horse talent from there. This Gelding rounds out the Auction House lineup for this race.
